My Live Setup

Postby Marco73 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 9:13 pm

Hello,
this is my live setup, I play in a rock band.

Laptop HP Pavillion with I5 processor, 4GB ram, SSD and Windows 7.
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (with Asio4All driver)
M-Audio Midisport 2x2

Masterkeyboard Fatar Studio 800
Masterkeyboard Behringer UMX 61 (I don't like it, but my JD800 is on repair)
Korg 03/R W
Korg Wavestation SR
Roland U220
Roland M120 Line mixer
Behringer Powerplay Ha4700
Midisolutions Dual Footswitch controller (for change scenes)

Forte 3
Ehco
Kontakt (with Akoustic Piano and some other libraries)
B4 ii
Atmosphere
Wavestation legacy

I started using Forte when my Miditemp Patchbay passed away. With EHco I can use my old hardware that has accompanied me for several years, with the plus of a good piano with kontakt and B4.

Not yet ready configuring it:

Hardware:
- small "embedded" bare-bone fanless PC box, i7 4 core (8 Threads), 4*2.5 GHz, 16 GB ram, 256 GB SSD
- TASCAM US 144 (supposedly to be replaced by a Behringer UMC 204 (if they manage to get a working driver), or a NI Komplete Audio 6, soon)
- no keyboard, mouse, monitor (if not for configuration "at home")

- Yamaha KX 88
- Yamaha WX7 (not yet started reactivating it from a 15 Year sleep)

Software:
- Windows 7 (stripped down as far as possible)
- Forte 3
- NI "Kontact 5 Players" (including some free stuff by NI)
- NI "Alicia's Keys"
- NI "Scarbee Mark 1"
- NI "Vintage Organs"
- 4front "epiano" (free)
- Pianoteq 4 (trying it right now, seems great and very versatile, regarding this, the "players" edition plus "electric piano" is not too expensive)
- NI FM8 (considering, it's rather expensive for the rather limited use I have for it)
- SampleModeling "The Saxophones" (Once I get along with the WX7)
- some free VSTs for special purposes (e.g Soundfont player for firing Wave Files with a key stroke)

I'm going out to pop, rock, and blues jams playing a Vortex Wireless Midi Keyboard that sends to a 10" Acer Laptop with 4Gigs and a 500GB SSD.
the VSTs are Kontakt 5, Xpand!2, and a vocal and reverb plugin. Kontakt is only used for the B3 sounds -I use the less demanding Xpand2 for everything else.

Everything runs in Forte 4 and out through a Behringer XENYX Q802 USB 2 mixer that has a wireless mic receiver plugged into it.

It all works great with no latency in the instruments but the vocal latency is terrible because it's coming into Forte via USB2 to add the reverb and effects and then back out to the mixer.

I do have SolidSoundStudio's bus routing plugins - could one of these be used to get around this problem?

Any one know how I would set it up?

Thanks!

No Worries - I got it. Truly an amazing set of plugins to go with Forte 4
