Post here if you are having a problem with or a question about forte that is not about a plugin or audio/MIDI hardware.

Recover quickly from "Not responding"

Postby dougalex » Wed Feb 24, 2016 4:33 pm

As with many programs at some point, sometimes Forte gets the windows error "Not responding" in the window title bar.
(This can happen when I have stepped through several scene changes too fast, and possibly other situations like during complex editing in older VSTs)

But after closing, I cannot restart Forte for approximately 5 minutes.
And I noticed that after closing from a "not responding" situation, in Task Manager, the processes tab shows a Forte process is still running.
I tried to "End process tree" but will not end until it decides it wants to.

I need a way to be able to restart Forte more quickly in this situation.
Do I have to resort to logging off or rebooting?
I wish I could just "end process" and immediately restart Forte, but I HAVE TO WAIT - which not a good in a live show.

Any suggestions?

Anytime I have had problems like that in the past, it's been due to the audio interface drivers not releasing the audio/MIDI ports.
If taht's the case, unplugging and re-plugging your audio interface would let you end the process (or it will end by itself).
