Add feature "user editable name for Instruments"

Post here if you are having a problem with or a question about forte that is not about a plugin or audio/MIDI hardware.

Add feature "user editable name for Instruments"

Postby dougalex » Tue May 13, 2014 11:53 am

I know "editable name for Instruments" is a popularly requested feature, but just to clarify:

I would suggest that the existing (VST/DXi) name still remains as is, and

add a field for the user to create a "User defined alias for the module" (never changes when scene changes), and

add a field for "User defined scene instrument name" (this is saved with scene and changes when scene changes).

So for instance, a module with a Sampler can say:

(as before) the VST/DXi Name: VSampler
Add "User defined Alias for the module": VSampler #1 (because I have three VSamplers loaded, I just like to identify them individually)
Add "User defined scene instrument name": Trumpets

Just FYI - you can create custom names for the instrument modules (double click in the name of the instrument rack item and edit) - is this not what you are suggesting (partly?)
