plans for velocity curve adjustment

Postby lancaster6 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 6:48 pm

i hate to push this issue, but i need a solution quickly. my controller has no velocity curve adjustment,(and obviously neither do some of my vsti's) and i have put in my wish on your list for this type of feature. i was just wondering if that was even possible within your software, and if you might be planning in the near future to add this. there is a hardware solution, but it is very expensive at $140, so b4 i shelled out the money, wanted to ask. thx 4 the awesome software. it's been stable for me for over a year now, and i wouldn't gig without it.

you can use a midi plugin like this

http://www.asseca.com/nicfit/vel_scale.html

together with forte's virtual midi input (VMI) function (check the manual how this works) to do this.

you might need to "wrap the plugin" in another vst since forte might not recognize the GUI otherwise. for this, you can use the demo of the www.energy-xt.com vst. or maybe you find another velocity plugin that does not require wrapping.

so that's what the vmi is for, thx. just d/l'd the kontakt 4 update (scarbee mark 1 is the culprit), and i don't know if it was there b4, (couldn't find it) but i have found a vel curve adjustment. will try it tonight. got so tired of playing a run and 1 note would just jump out 20 db hotter than the rest. if i don't like it, i will try ur solution. thx again.

the kontakt velocity curve worked gr8. does any 1 else notice that when using kontakt 4 within forte, the kontakt effect presets aren't available? might have to start a new thread for this.

Hi
I just tried several plugins, even these plugins nmentioned in the post. but all plugins failed the scan. Most because they have no editor surface, or the nf_Vel_scale_v2 failed by the error no output.

Can someone give me a plugin, which workes, or tell me whre my fault is.

Hi

yes, forte doesn't implement the default VST parameter gui, as fab suggested you can wrap the in energyXT (as a plugin). EXT does recognise them.

I don't have any other suggestions unfortunately, and I don't have time to code one on request..... sorry!

Hi,
Today, I am facing the same problem to remap velocity.
It is mainly with Kontakt 4.
With some library, my master keyboard does not trigger the "hi" samples.
Someone found a simple solution until the function is included in Forte (without using Energy XT)
Thanks
Lucien

Hi,

if you like a solution inside forte you could give this a try (via VMI):

http://www.asseca.com/soma/uploads/Beta ... X_Beta.zip

If you prefer a solution outside forte this could be a solution (has to be implemented by using virtual midi-cable like loopbe:

No garantee but worth a look,

good luck, Volker

Thank you Volker.
I tried both.
The "Soma Note FX" is not working in Forte: "Soma Note FX ignored because it has 0 outputs ( requires 1-64)"
The " Velocity Curve" works well. I'm going to use. but is not ideal.
We can not recall different velocity curve with Forte.
I have not seen this feature in Forte 3 :(
Yet we've long requested by Mike, just as the remapping of the pitch and after touch...Yet the basic function very useful. One day may be.....
Again, thank you Volker.

Hmhm, :o

I had a look for somafx_lite which IS running in forte 2 here (just checked it)! As I had no source available I did some "googleing" and found the first link (thought it was the one I was looking for - obviously it was not). I`m not really sure but here is another link I found (without garantee!):

Until someone codes such a thing (or Mike adds support for midi-only plugins) the best way I found is indeed to use this

http://platinumears.com/VelocityCurveSM.rar

wrapped inside energyXT as a VST.

Hello everyone.

-Volker: The "Soma-notefx-lite" run well in Forte. Now, I understand the usefulness of VMI....
I will use it now for many VST because Forte remembers well the parameters per scene.

-Dirk: I have not tried "VelocitycurveSM" because I don't want to install "Energy xt" just for that

-Fab: Yes :D :D I searched it for a long time in Kontakt 4. The manual is so long. I was looking in "group editor," but it was not there.
I opened "script editor" but seeing "Preset and factory" I do not think it was there ...

Thank's to all three of your help.

Lucien.

This is freeware 100% working (via VMI) velocity plugin:
http://thepiz.org/plugins/?p=midiCurve

I like it but HATE that i have to use VMI instead Forte had some sort of velocity mapper like any other host!! Please!!
VMI works great but makes everything more messy
