Postby joeblack73 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:02 am

Hi, I've pc laptop hp dv6000 series, m-audio oxigen 61 and brainspawn forte 1.6.
My question is this:
I have assigned one volume ccmidi (07) for midi channels on my oxigen 61 triggers and i have, in forte 1.6, loaded 3 different module vsti for my virtual rack.
All modules have one midi channel appropried (module1 = channel 1)(module2 = channel 2) etc...
For the one and the second module the volume control it's ok but for the third module in not ok, the third trigger on my oxigen 61 not control the volume of this module.
Please help me.
Excuse me for bad enghish i'm italian boy.
Thank's

Hi joeblack,

first of all: a welcome to the formum. I read your posting but it is not completely clear to me, what could be the reason of your problem as your setup is not completely clear to me. So some ideas:

1) There are 2 principal ways to control volume of a MIDI - Receiver: CC7 = Volume and CC11 = Expression. For the plugs I use I can say that they can be devided into to groups: in group 1 there are plugs that can be controlled by CC7, in group 2 there are plugs that can be controlled by both CC7 and CC11. I can imagine, that there could be plugs that only resond to CC11? Could this be the reason for your problem? The solution in this case could be to redirect CC7 to CC11 (unfortunately I don`t use 1.6 but forte 2 so I`m not sure if this functionality already was available in 1.6).

2) Could it be, that the Controller on your keyboard sends to a channel that cannot be received by your plug (f.e. I could only be able to receive on Ch1). In this case the solution could be to redirect MIDI Receive Channel from Ch3 to Ch1.

If you like, you could tell a bit more about your setup. It would be interesting f.e.:
1) which plugs do you use?
2) Which controllers do you use on the keyboard and (most important) which MIDI messages do they send?

I could then probably have a look on the manuals and maybe we can find a soultion.

Thank's Volker for you support, but i don't have resolved the problem because I am not very practical for midi question.

The plugins used in the rack are : Thrue Pianos 1.5 (Module 1), Nexus 2 (Module 2), Lounge Lizard El.Piano (Module 3).

Please send me detailed instructions step by step to resolve this question.

Volker you have the Brainspawn 2.0 version ? This version is better than the preceding one ?

it would be a pleasure for me receive it. :OP

Excuse me for bad enghlish.

thanks still.

Hi joeblack,

o.k. I know Nexus and Lounge Lizard. I had Nexus as Demo for a while but it doesn`t work any more (limited test period as far as I remember so no chance to reload it). Lounge Lizard is here as Demo, so I can do some tests on it. This seems to make sense as it should be modul 3 which produces the trouble you described.

Concerning forte 2: this is an upgrade. As you have a valid version of forte 1 there is the possibility to upgrade for 39,95$. Here is the link:
http://www.brainspawn.com/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=68

I recommend to download the free trial first to do some testing before buying. For me the new version is really great as it has lots of new features and fixes available. Also the version works very stable on 64Bit OS here (although not supported officially!).

I also received your private message and I will respond as soon as I have done some testing with lounge lizard.

Hi,

again me. I did some tests and I think I found the reason for your problem: Lounge Lizard doesn`t have a hardcoded connection between CC7 or CC11 to the volume of the plugin. Instead there is a possibilty that`s called MIDI-learn. This means that you can teach any controller of the plugin (and the big volume knob is one of them) to receive a certain MIDI CC command. To do this in your case follow these steps:

1) Open the control surface of Lounge Lizard.
2) Right click on the Volume knob on the surface. Now a pop-up menu should be visable.
3) Select the entry "Learn MIDI Link" by left clicking it
4) Move the controler on your keyboard that you want to control volume

When you now move this controller from now on you should see the volume knob in the Lounge Lizard rotating depending on the position of your controller and you`re done.

Hope this will help. Otherwise don`t hesitate to post again.

Good luck, Volker
