Midid filter settings make very slow load time

Postby glenny_g » Thu Apr 11, 2013 9:05 pm

Hi, I hope someone knows what is amiss here.
On my XP 32bit laptops it takes about 4 minutes to load my gig rack. The problem seems to be in loading the midi settings for each instrument in each scene. On my 64bit Win7 laptop the same rack file loads in about 20 seconds. I really don't see why the OS difference would have such a huge impact because the midi settings (key range, controller mapping etc.) isn't a huge amount of info really.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi

What size is your rackfile on disk? Isn't there a huge difference in hardware between both machines, the Win7 laptop having, maybe, an SSD as storage medium, more memory and a faster, multicore processor? If your XP machine lacks memory, uses a harddrive, and starts using the swapfile you can indeed reach long load times.

Dirk
Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Thanks Dirk,
The rack file is 28.8 Mb. I have 3 gig of RAM. The slow part is the loading of midi filter files which really must be tiny. I don't get it.
