Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

It's an easy-made mistake, for two reasons: the ambiguous naming of the action: "action" (something like action receive" and "action send" would have been far more comprehensible), and the lack of documentation (the update action isn't even documented in the sample file).

I think some more recently added features haven't been sufficiently beta-tested, so they are not entirely finished.

Ok, but just to verify:

This midi-feedback is working via the <update action> lines sending the appropriate Midi CC# to the hardware midi-port defined with the control surface and I don't need EcHo?

Thanks!

No, you don't need EHCo for MIDI output to a control surface.

Yes, CS support is there, and I think its getting pretty good, but it has only slowly improved because I don't think many people are using it yet.

I could stop and document everything...but its either that or work on code for the future. Someone else is welcome to document it on the wiki. I can suck that into the User Guide at some point.

Thanks both of you for your support!

I was able to make Novation Automap work as a control surface for Forte. I'm working on a how-to which I will post in a new thread shortly.

Yeah, cool! Looking forward to read that. I'm a bit into remote-control at the moment, a bit in my E-Bay mood :D and some of those Novation devices look really cool and seem to offer a lot of functionalities in a small formfactor, which is mandatory for me, the smaller the better!
