Hi Angelo, So far nobody else has reproduced it (including us) but we are still trying to! What kind of MIDI controller are you using? Do you have access to another one? We know of at least one that does some interesting things that probably don't apply to you but there may be other weird things too...

Thank you Angelo, I'll play with VST a bit and see if I can detect this MIDI loss bug. Regarding the 4 instances of the plugs...I've never seen that before. What happens if you open your data directory (Help | View INI Files...) and delete dx.ini and vst.ini? As for audio in, we will certainly check...

Thanks much Meffy! So it looks like we need to make sure the WDM driver called "Santa Cruz" defaults to 3 KS buffers...no problem, we already special case some Sound Blasters like this. Also, the "forte: file E:\C++ Projects\SynthRack_05\VSTFilter.cpp, Line 1031" is understood and fixed. Thanks, Mike

Hi Angelo, This ASSERT you found is not harmful and you can press Ignore (we will also get rid of it in the next version.) Then you should get a "reprofile" dialog box. Try ASIO mode and restart. Can you post your log file manually here (its in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\b...

Hello Meffy, I'm glad you got it fixed. I'll look at your log file and probably add a Knowledge Base item or an automatic extra buffer for a future version (more plug-n-play). Could you post your log file? (please don't email...we are getting a ton of them right now and it might get lost.) Mike

DJ, You might want to check this out: http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24258 You can get in on this. We are about to release 1.2 which has native VSTi support. It MIGHT solve your CPU problem by hosting Sampletank natively instead of through that VST wrapper. Download the 1.2 public beta...

DJ, I still think it has something to do with Sampletank and possibly floating point denormalization. Its hard to imagine why it would take up so much more CPU on your system. It appears its not your hardware. So it would still be very helpful to know if other synths (especially DXis) can be created...

Hello DJ, Thanks for the log file and info. From inspecting it I cannot find anything unusual. On my 2.4 GHz system, 3 Sampletanks take about 13% of the CPU and I have no dropouts. So you are NOT having audio problems until you add a 3rd Sampletank? If this is the case we can rule out soundcard issu...

Hello Mr. Taylor, Thank you for checking out forte. In order to diagnose your problem I need a little more information from you. 1. Open preferences and set logging to "Information" level. Stop and restart forte, get it to dropout, and then email or post your log file (the file itself is available i...

Sorry, I haven't played with VSampler much, but you may be correct. Maybe the IPersist load (the operation we do on Scene load and rack load) just loads the sample set, but doesn't go back to a specific one. We don't currently have a way for a scene to do a specific MIDI program change. This might b...

Hello, Be sure you are training the right MIDI input controller. You have to highlight the MIDI input port you are configuring on the left (sounds complicated but its a byproduct of the fact that we can train MIDI CCs independently for each MIDI input port). Does this help? If not, please post back ...

In response to the KVR thread, I added some code today for the next version that times scene loading to the millisecond. Even in the slower debug builds I'm seeing 50ms or so...very fast. I've asked that person to provide some info on the rack he's using...Perhaps one of his plugins is taking foreve...

Hi Larrypjr,

Can you also see our Bug Report forum and download, run, and post EnumKS output? See the announcement there on how to do this.

This utility tells me alot about what your WDM soundcard is capable of and can help me discover things I've not accounted for.

Thanks,

Mike

Let's distinguish between multi-outs and multi-timbral. Multi-outs is high on the wish list. Multi-timbral is definitely there today with things like Sound Canvas, B4, Kontakt, etc.

Sorry Guest. We've got a huge job ahead of us making this a solid application and we've made some tough decisions about reducing our support cases (different scenarios we have to test and reproduce bugs in). In my experience, 95/98/ME are just too different from 2000/XP and in many ways its a little...

Hi Keni,

Multi-out support is a definite must-do for version 2.0. However it will not happen for 1.0. Most synths can deal with this, but if some can't we are going to have to say 'unsupported' until version 2.

Be assured that multi-outs is high on the list for the next major version.
