Re: A couple of OT questions

I think this is why people use Bome's Midi Translator along with Forte.

Re: Remote Desktop alternative for use with Forte?

I used Radmin on my original system back in 2007 on a 333 mhz XP system . I remember there was a CPU hit that caused occasional "blurbles" in Kontakt but it wasn't anything like 30%. You can get it at http://www.radmin.com and use it for 30 days for free. You'll want to minimize the screen...

Who has / is using Bome's Midi Translator along with Forte?

Just curious - kind of a personal poll. The two seem to work well together. EDIT: Thanks for the responses - I do have it and I've set up several "systems" with BMT+Forte based on a "laptop, midi interface & audio interface in a suitcase" hardware system I put together. I am ...

Re: Is a delay needed between midi unmute and program change?

FOLLOW UP: I finally had a chance to write up a 96 note on/off to 96 instrument mute/unmute mycontrolsurfacedefinitions.xml file along with a MidiTranslator setup to test it. The instrument (VB3) had no problem responding to unmute messages which were immediately followed by a patch change. No delay...

Re: Volume was pre effect on Instruments

Why on earth would you use the faders inside a vst host for mixing? You're supposed to set them to track an external controller and use the faders on the controller for mixing.

Middle C doesn't function on one port

Forte 3 - this is the weirdest. Four port MOTU USB midi interface. Midimon (midi monitor software) sees the middle C. All notes play in Forte on ports 1,3 & 4. All notes BUT middle C play on port 2. Forte's midi indicator on the instrument and midi monitor say middle C is not is getting to the i...

Is a delay needed between midi unmute and program change?

If I use midi automation to unmute an instrument, how soon can I send the instrument a midi program change?

Re: Controlling multiple sets of instruments independently

Ok, my suggestion would be to create a "scenegroups" construct - basically a set of scenes limited to a subset of instrument modules with their own port/channel assignment for scene changes. Scenegroups would be independent of each other so picking a scene in one scenegroup would have no e...

Re: Controlling multiple sets of instruments independently

I'd say matrix. To simplify, I want to be able to split a keyboard, have multiple vst's available for each half and choose them without affecting the other half. A group of patch change buttons would control the bass instrument and another group of patch change buttons would control the treble instr...

Re: Controlling multiple sets of instruments independently

Forte does not support multiple instances and "officially" under Windows 7+ there cannot be multiple ASIO sources. I've seen some workarounds on the net (Multi-ASIO and ASIO4ALL) but haven't tried them. You *can* get away with using different versions of Forte along with a standalone sampl...

Controlling multiple sets of instruments independently

FYI. I've been trying to set up a structure where I can use multiple controllers and select VST's independently. You can't have multiple ASIO streams in Win7+ so multiple instances of audio programs, as in Kontakt + Forte is not an option. I just managed to set up a nine scene structure with three i...
