Updated again - more economical and fixed an issue with sustain messages causing hung notes.

Re: Bomes Translator preset - VERY VERY useful

Updated code in post above. Now doesn't reset controllers when switch is off. Much better.

Bomes Translator preset - VERY VERY useful

I wanted to recreate the common hardware feature found on multi-timbral keyboards where you can switch midi receive/local on and off for a sound, for instance to layer strings over a piano. The hardware waits for note off or velocity=0 before turning off midi receive so you don't get hung notes even...

Re: for the wishlist: assign controller to note receive swit

Thanks for the suggestions. I made this preset for Midi Translator Pro. It works very well and does everything I want. I wanted to recreate the common hardware feature found on multi-timbral keyboards where you can switch midi receive/local on and off for a sound, for instance to layer strings over ...

Re: for the wishlist: assign controller to note receive swit

Yes, I'm wondering if I could have MT duplicate its output to a second channel and then anything I want to use as a layer in Forte gets assigned to that channel input. Then I could turn that channel on and off in MT, and make some kind of script that stops notes hanging.

Re: for the wishlist: assign controller to note receive swit

Yes, I use Translator Pro and it is very handy but I'm not sure how it would work in this situation. All the midi coming out of my Translator is on ch 1. It is inside Forte that it gets split into different channels and it is the note receive parameter in each channel of each Forte instrument that I...

for the wishlist: assign controller to note receive switch

Hi. Sorry, I thought there was a dedicated wishlist section but haven't found it. Feel free to bump this. I'd love to see a midi implementation that is common on hardware multitimbral keyboards. It works like this - say you have a piano sound and you want to add strings layer for the second verse. Y...

Re: Hypersonic 2 / 64bits (one more time !)

Yeah....it works MOST of the time but not reliably enough to use on gigs. Such a shame Steinberg let it go. Halion Sonic is nowhere near as good. Sigh. I'll miss you, Hypersonic. PS: It would be GREAT if whatever quirk in Hypersonic is causing crashes in Forte 64bit could be allowed for in a Forte u...

Re: Sonalksis FreeG crashing when clicking MIDI Routing

Well, it didn't crash, but it wasn't acknowledging the "Do not store" flag in midi config either. So every Scene change it went back to full level. Not what you want in a volume control. I've ditched it and using Basic Strip again, despite it being terrible for zipper noise and very grainy...

Hi Dirk.
I've always used aux bus set but am on a 64bit machine now an need the 2.0 version please. The links you posted are no longer valid.
Thanks for this very handy utility! Need the 64 bit version urgently for Icehouse gigs. Can't play Electric Blue without my aux sends :)

Re: Sonalksis FreeG crashing when clicking MIDI Routing

Yes, I have the same problem. I've got it set up now and so long as I don't open the GUI for it I should be OK. I set it up to max out at 64 (close to 0dB) and min at 10 (because there is a lot of travel at the bottom end of the range before you get to hear much). Basic Strip is a handy little plugi...

midi port not being disabled in Preferences

Hi - a recent problem since updating Forte 3 to 3.0.47 that wasn't resolved by going to 3.2. I run all my midi thru Bomes Midi Translator Pro before it goes to Forte via the Bome virtual midi outs. Consequently, I disable all the physical midi ports in the Preferences in Forte 3 since I don't need t...

Re: Hypersonic 2 / 64bits (one more time !)

Hi. AFter hours of messing about I seem to have Hypersonic 2 working in Forte 3 Performer 64 bit. I have tested this by loading Hypersonic 2, loading various programs, taking snapshots, switching between scenes, saving the rack file, loading the rack file and confirming that all the scenes work as p...

Re: Midid filter settings make very slow load time

Thanks Dirk,
The rack file is 28.8 Mb. I have 3 gig of RAM. The slow part is the loading of midi filter files which really must be tiny. I don't get it.

Midid filter settings make very slow load time

Hi, I hope someone knows what is amiss here. On my XP 32bit laptops it takes about 4 minutes to load my gig rack. The problem seems to be in loading the midi settings for each instrument in each scene. On my 64bit Win7 laptop the same rack file loads in about 20 seconds. I really don't see why the O...

Novation Nio problems

I can't get more than one bus at a time to address the same audio output on Novation Nio 2|4. So I can't use the Reverb and Delay buses I set up using AuxBus. Don't have that problem on M-Audio firwire box. Also can't get latency on Nio below 45ms. Nio should get down to around 5ms. Have set Preffer...

Re: Many problems with Forte

Thanks Wolferl, that might be it. .................. I wonder that you can use Mr. Ray plugins. I had some problems (crashes, dropouts) with them and banned it for live playing. So maybe Mr. Ray is the guilty. 8) Try a test setup without Mr. Ray. It is very easy to find it out if you have crashes on...

Re: Many problems with Forte

Also, it usually hangs, rather than crashes. In Scene View that often means both the scene I was on AND the scene I selected are highlighted, everything is frozen up, and I have to use Task Manager to end the application.
Thus I don't get a send error report option.

forte hangs

Hi. Forte 2 is hanging on me sometimes on scene changes. I have to end the application in Task Manager. That means it isn't offering to send an error report. Is there a log file I can send instead to determine what is causing the problem??
Thanks

Many problems with Forte

Hi. I really like this program but have never been able to get it to run with any stability. I use it on my gigs but to be honest it has taken years off my life because I can't be sure it won't crash. Details - latest update of Forte on an Acer laptop 2.4 GHz intel dual core running XP Pro Sp2, Dire...
