Re: Request for Windows 10 Experiences with Forte 4.1

Hi Mike et al, I'm building up a new gig rig and just installed forte 4.1, for which the release notes say "Windows 10 recommended." I'm curious as to why; does 4.1 take advantage of features in Win10 that aren't present in Win7/8? I would prefer to stay with Win7 (since it's the devil I k...

Re: Akoustik Piano

Thanks dude.. no I have not tried using the Kontakt player for AP samples yet. I'll check that out. The original NI EP and B4 still work fine for me in forte.

Just curious- what soundcards did you have audio problems with that were resolved once you started using the Konakt player?

Thanks,

Re: u-he.com Uhbik plug ignored

Ahh thanks, that would explain it. I thought the "requires 0, 1-2" message was in reference to this plugin, not forte overall.

I never got far enough with this plug to determine if it would be useful for me. I'll play with it in another host.

Cheers,

forte wants to ignore this plug, but I don't understand why. I get nine "ignored because" messages, all similar to the following: VST module "E:\Vstplugins\u-he\Uhbik\Uhbik-A.dll" ignored because it has 8 inputs (requires 0, 1 - 2).[]. Actually the "[]" in the above str...

I'm refreshing this old thread since I can't get NI Akoustik Piano to launch at all. (Just emailed crash dump). It used to work fine in forte 1. In f2 Producer Edition, I get a crash the instant I click on the graphic for "Concert Grand D" to load its samples. This is a big deal for me, si...

There was nothing else similar to the vmk88 that I saw at NAMM. It's still the thinnest, lightest, 88-note board out there (except for the tmk88 which doesn't have enough features to be useful). I like that the vmk88 has 4 pedal inputs, and you can use a footswitch or continuous pedal on any of them...

Thanks for the info on the VMK88. I had a chance to play one at NAMM a few days ago. I liked it. The new "plus" version has built in USB, revised firmware (which I think just allows the transport buttons to work with more hosts?), and a lighter colored case with lettering you can read more easily in...

Hi Ben, I've been looking seriously at the VMK88 also, especially since Music123 (and their sister company at wwbw.com) have B-stock units for under 350 USD. I think these are clearance items because the VMK88 "plus" keyboards have been announced. As far as I can tell the only "plus" enhancement is ...

This was discusses sometime ago but I don't remember the thread. Anyway, the DXi versions of the Edriol stuff work, i.e. they do remember their settings. The VSTi ones don't. If you didn't install the DXi versions, install them and I think you'll find they work for Orchestral, Super Quartet, and Hyp...

Giga v3.12 behaves the same as v3.10. I can disable ReWire inside Giga to run it standalone, but without external "hardware" control in forte that doesn't really help much. There are still advantages to running with ReWire- I don't need GSIF hardware, I have sample-accurate lock, and there is potent...

I just found out from a fellow Giga user that Giga is up to v3.12. Downloading as I type this. The readme doesn't explicitly address any changes to ReWire, but I'm told it solves a whole bunch of ReWire problems encountered in v3.10. We shall see.

I have a correction to my post above- Cubase SX 3.1.1.944 has the same behavior as forte. This is likely more of a Giga issue. I'm not familiar with how ReWire works under the hood, but perhaps Giga is rejecting some sort of close message from whatever host is trying to close things down. Since Acid...

ReWire shutdown issues after Gigastudio 3.04->3.10 upgrad

Hello Greg and Mike, I'm having a subtle but serious operational problem with forte 1.5.85 after upgrading Gigastudio from version v3.04 to v3.10 (3.04.0.1757 to 3.10.0.2270 to be exact). I install the SimulAnalog Guitar Suite series of plugins, but forte claims they are "not recognized as VST/VSTi dlls". However they load fine in Cubase and ACID.
