Hi,

I think it is because of the internal architecture of Forte which is stereo. Why not using the stereo version and everything is OK?

No, not yet. BTW, if I need velocity switching I program this directly in the plug-ins like NI Kontakt or Stienberg Hypersonic II/Halionsonic 2. There are advantages and drawbacks of doing it this way, but it works nicely for me.

There should be no notable difference in CPU load or memory usage in the described scenarios. I haven't used scene view for ten years. - Did you create and update a scene before saving the rack?
- What type of plug-ins? Instruments predominately go into modules, effects go into module inserts or buss inserts.

Sure:

In the Midi routing tab, right-click on "enabled"/"disabled" of a port to copy complete port mappings to other ports/all other scenes, or right-click on the "To" MIDI channel number, to copy settings of a channel to other channels.

Average CPU: 20% to 30% when idle, up to 70% during playing. Just keyboard MIDI in, no audio inputs.

SSDs are a good idea, as my 7200 rpm HDD together with my Echo Indigo DJX audio interface in the express card slot produce considerable heat.

Dunno if this helps but I can run all the plug-ins that you mentioned on a 4 year old Core2Duo 2GHz laptop with 2GB RAM under WinXP 32, with Forte 2.2 and Beta 3. Works very well. Can only get even faster concerning loading and switching of sounds with the specs you mentioned.

Bomes MIDI Translator is very good for such things. Its an external stand-alone program and comes with its own Virtual MIDI ports. So its easy to map incomming MIDI notes to controller messages and send thme to Forte.

Yes, that is exactly what I do:

Midi Prog Change #0 = 1st scene
Midi Prog Change #1 = 2nd scene
and so on.

Try out Bomes Midi Translator Pro. I'm using the Pro Version for all sorts of weired MIDI filtering and mapping. MT Pro comes with its' own virtual MIDI ports.
